Yoga for Menopause

What is yoga? - It's a series of extremely well thought out postures that move and improve virtually every part of the body.

Yoga for the menopause is not a physical workout but a series of yoga postures linked together in a flowing way. You need not spend hours practising yoga, a few short minutes a day on a regular basis will be sufficient. However the more you do yoga, the more you will want to practise. Add to the fact you will look and feel a lot better.

There are various forms of yoga being practised today. Many place great emphasis on attaining the finished postures and many students find it difficult and drop out.

On yoga for menopause the emphasis is placed on moving slowly and smoothly. You stop as soon as you reach your body's natural and comfortable limit. You progress every time you do a posture. This way the body progresses at its own speed and there is no strain.

Yoga can be for the fit or not so fit, you don't have to be flexible. Yoga for menopause will give you a feeling of being refreshed, relaxed, invigorated and revitalised. A regular yoga practise can help not just with menopausal symptoms but also will relax your mind. Remember yoga is mind, body and spirit. What you do find when you have a regular yoga practise is that you feel more feminine, more contented with your body and that at this particular time is very important.

If you learn just the Sun Salutations (Surya Namaskar), practising this every day will keep you supple and massage your internal organs, keeping them healthy and working properly. Certain postures in yoga affect certain organs.

Here is a list of some of the benefits of the Sun Saluations:
Tones the digestive system, strenghens abdominal muscles, tones the nervous system and improves memory, prevents skin problems, improves muscle flexibility, stimulates the breasts to help firmness, reduces fat, makes you feel youthful, the list goes on. It will take you only 10 minutes or less a day to do these Sun Saluations.

In yoga a posture as simple as a Forward Bend relieves digestive problems such as bloating and constipation. It also stimulates the adrenals and reproductive organs.

A shoulder stand is also known as the posture for eternal youth.

The list is endless, why go through this by yourself? Let me help you, or contact a yoga teacher in your area. If you have any problems finding one, email me and I will try and help. I can come to your home and either have the hour by yourself or get a few friends together and have fun.

This is a time of change - a change for the better - be content with your body.
